Fall 2006 Favourites:
Versace – signature style, bold colours
DSquared2 – Edwardian Elegance, from riding-to black-tie
Alexander McQueen: OMG, I luff luffed his collection. Absolutely stunning. McQueen never fails to impress me. His collection felt like a storybook set in Scotland with the tartans at the end. oh how i with a designer and a producer/director could collaborate and produce a fantasy, whimsical movie for all the fashion ppl in the world! oh sigh…
Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld was the wildcard this season. As most of the designers followed similar shapes, his was a fancy 60’s inspired collection with minis and ruffles all in one. I think this will probably be the biggest seller… its incredibly versatile and extremely sexy!
Gucci: HOT HOT HOT.. feels like i’m living in the 70’s 80s.. lots of mettalic sheer, tiny tiny skirts -woot its like Pre-Cocaine users. LOL
Sweetface: aka J-Lo’s line, was very reminiscent of her. I thought it was sharp 🙂
Honorable Mentions: Balanciaga probably had the strongest showing with a memorable silhouette. A very distinct look with the tall boots and equestrian hat gave models a lengthened look. I thought it was great to look at but its definately a style that will be trickling down in a few months.
Missoni:
Too bad, so sad: A quick glance at Chloe’s F/W06 just makes one realize what an exit of a designer can do to the brand. Without the clear direction under Phoebe Philo, the collection cannot live up to the Chloe name as former designers have brought – Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo. We’ll wait to see the next genius that will bring this brand to life again. For now, as I quote Style.com – “the contents of Chloé now have shades of Marc Jacobs’ latest layerings (shorts over pants) and hints of Marni-cum-Yohji abstract shapes (loose-waisted, hopsacky things), while anxiously hanging on to last season’s baby doll to keep up the label’s continuity.”
.
Prada was boring.. meh.
