“It’s all about the experience.”
Today, I went to my first committee meeting for FCAD (Faculty of Communication and Design) for Teaching and Learning and might I tell you, it was quite interesting listening to such similar concerns of other Schools that were similar to the School of Fashion. Graphic Communications Management, Interior Design, Image Arts, Theatre, Journalism, Radio and Television and of course Fashion were the 7 Schools representing this Faculty in Ryerson.
It was quite overwhelming and exhilirating at the same time to see other people with as much passion for a high level learning environment as I have. Mr. E always bugs me about the way I learn because I rarely have exams or need to study, instead I have final crits and assigned appointments for my projects. FCAD has a hands-on art approach to learning that maybe mirrors some foundation to the Bauhaus School. Nonetheless, I am extremely proud of my undergrad degree whether or not my parents are. If I am going to be an alumni, I expect the rest of my mates from the same school should be taught in an environment that encourages learning in a positive and limitless manner.
Anyhow, that was the second meeting I attended today. The first was the intro to Shiseido’s Project, where the winner will recieve $1000!! So I really want to do that for sure!
I’m starting to find it pleasantly challenging today, cramming my classes, errands and meetings all in one day.
11-1pm Shiseido Briefing
3-4pm Web Design
4-5pm Ryerson Research Collection
6-8pm FCAD Committee Intro
But I rather be productive all in one day than sit around jobless and doing these meaningless projects. Like I said before, I’m working for an evil-money-making-monster… hahaha just kidding – if anything, the opposite! I like working for the Jomomma, the hours are flex and I don’t do the stressing.. heeeheee…..PLUS i get to work on some design/print material for them, that’s the cool part!
Now i’m starting to finish of my thesis proposal, something along the lines of: The Challenges of the Malaysian Fashion Industry…. this will be my first segway into attempting to be the Jeanne Beker of Malaysian Fashion.. hahah stay tuned!
AHHH–let’s hope I don’t get home too late!
