Hey Everyone – hope you’ve managed to tune in on HGTV’s Mansions! I filmed it last year summer and glad to see that it has hit the silver screen now! Paul Miklas is one of the nicest dudes I know and builds such beautiful houses in Toronto! I saw most of his stuff as a work-in-progress but even at that stage, you could see how opulent they were. Then again a few houses I’ve been to in Malaysia do equate to such grandeur!
The best part about shooting this show was that I was in the pilot! Here’s the synopsis for Episode 1:
“Nothing says luxury living more than a gorgeous outdoor pool and landscaped backyard. But usually Paul and Valleymede homes have months to create the perfect outdoor oasis. Lot 36 is nearing completion and the owner throws in a last minute twist. She wants a pool in 3 weeks. Paul and his team race the clock as they try to meet the client’s demands. Betz pools offers up inspiration, but at a design meeting with Holly, Paul decides to go for a traditional Roman style pool and Holly suggests a Jacuzzi with a waterfall feature. Meanwhile Jim is trying to stay on top of the trades on the inside of the mansion, but the client has brought in her own trades and the two sets of trades aren’t meeting eye to eye. A visit to the wise Dusty Miklas gives Paul the dad advice he was looking for and a last minute effort to make it all happen pays off. The pool is complete, the backyard looks beautiful, there’s even a golf course to keep the client happy. “
Thank God I was living with Jommoma at that time. I seriously have no proper work clothes and to come off as an interior designer, I was definitely struggling. She lent me her grey pant suit and I was ready to go!!
