I don’t know if you guys know already, but my top three favourite food items are: French Fries, Durian and White Chocolate. At any time, I can gladly introduce either of these dishes to my meal… I’m not kidding, I could do durian with rice and I’d be just as content!
Anyhow, I’m back from my trip to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah and besides boring you guys with random things I did there, this blog is entirely devoted to my love for Durian. I’m totally not kidding, I think my perfect idea of a date could be driving to some roadside and paying the dude RM20 for all you can eat durian! I want to go back to Penang where there’s an island called Balik Pulau, not far off Batu Ferrenghi.
I was in KK having my first meal there with delicious fresh seafood and one of the vendors placed the Deep-Fried Ice Cream Menu on the table. I saw the Cornflake covered durian flavour ice cream and indulged in it!! It was sooo delicious and in the ice cream, there were chunks of real durian inside! YUMMM YUMMM!!
Just as I thought heaven could not get any better, our drive in Ranau from Kinabalu National Park took a slight detour to buy some local fruits, among soursop, mangosteens, sala, and of course…………… kampung durian! I managed to take a stab at this since I hadn’t eaten kampung durians in over 9 years! Absolutely delicious I tell ya, and it was worth the 2hr drive up the mountain!
