Last Sunday, I celebrated Fathers Day with Teja and her Papa. I’d like to think i’m the cina daughter he never had. 🙂 We dined at Las Carretas in Damansara for some festive Mexican and Papa Saleh reminisced stories of his days as a Foreign Exchange Student in Oregon in the late 60s. Its kinda cool to hear about other people’s experiences that have made them who they are today.
As a treat for her family, she took them to Uptown Durians (it was actually a treat for me too!!) Papa Saleh was so excited telling me about how we were going to eat the Raja Kunyit, King of Durians. As i took a bite, I know that this no-nonsense durian was oddly familiar. Oh yes, I remember paying more than RM80 for one of these suckers before… its the Mao Shan Wong. I guess i wasn’t familiar with its Malay name.
This beautiful beast fed the three of us and then some, but I felt like we didn’t do it justice. Next time durian, I’ll get you again next time! Ngeh ngheh ngeh 🙂
