Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. -Lao Tzu
For my first post of 2012, I wanted to share my motto for the year. It comes from this quote and I hope it’ll be a good reminder for me to stay disciplined.
My motto this year is: MASTER OF MY UNIVERSE.
There are lots of projects I’ve been working on and if I am able to manage my time better and get through my personal hurdles. I think it’ll be a great step towards having a fulfilling new year!
This year I really want to focus on discipline, especially for my Heart, Body and Soul. <3   Self-discipline is “a type of selective training, creating new habits of thought, action, and speech toward improving yourself and reaching your goals.â€
I found this great article on self-discipline and I hope I can do it!
Habits, when carefully chosen and systematically implemented, have two main benefits:
- Habits exercise our capability to choose.
- Habits automate our thinking and our behavior.
Now that we know how habits help us in our goal to build self-discipline, it’s time to look at a framework for creating habits that last.
There are five distinct steps to habit creation:
- Choose a specific habit.
- Identify your motivation.
- Change your environment.
- Measure your progress.
- Reward your success.
Like the proverb above states, mastering yourself is true power. I think its time that I started making better decisions and building good habits that will enable me to reach my goals in life. I have such a great network and a support system that it really is upon me to reach as far as I possibly can. A journey starts with a single step! 😉
