I was on the phone with B earlier this week about my see-saw feelings about my work. There’s always good news and bad news, good news and bad news. Its the nature of the business and the nature of being a passionate person. I try to keep things objective and look at numbers but sometimes those don’t even help. Then I try to compare myself with other people and that too becomes quite frustrating. Its never a win-win, especially not when one compares oneself to another.Â
However, I would say that this journey is a means to whatever I am looking for. It feels like I am meandering through life and my only solace is the sunny skies that wake me up each morning. Recently, I wished a friend on his b’day with one of those generic “Happy Birthday, hope u have a good one” and we exchanged messages about the pros and cons of living closer to family and friends and what work meant to us. I guess this is where people (mostly I) start to realize that work cannot be who defines a person. Your life, your spirit and your legacy is, finding greater purpose other than your own.
My birthday is just around the corner and another year older means another year of “what the hell am I going to do for the rest of my life” spiel.
But are there lots to be happy about?
Abso-fucking-lutely!
1. Mister French Taste is picked up by Koldcast.tv and we are getting great viewership, as updated by Jen Thym, director.
2. I booked a film which is set to introduce a new crime genre by the creator of CSI. Not only do I play a pivotal character (not the lead), the director said he was impressed with my audition that he knew he wanted me to be in the film. The character wasn’t written up to be Asian, he just thought I’d be perfect for it. 🙂
3. I’m heading out to Washington, DC and it’ll be a fun trip for me as I haven’t taken a vacay since Jan. Just a quick trip but I can’t wait to Segway around the monuments and the White House!
Thanks for letting me rant. I know life should not be predicated on work but I guess waking up and loving your work everyday makes it difficult to see the distinction. The sun is peaking out after fear of thunderstorms and I must enjoy this weekend. On to sunny days!! <3
