I admit, I haven’t been that great about the updates since being in Toronto except for the sporadic Twitter updates and mentions (@imSarahLian if you’re not already following me). But I can assure you that a lot has happened in my first week, here goes:
(a stolen shot from stylist Karen Lo)
After two days of landing in Toronto and had my first meeting with the producers of a new series being shot in the city. They had sent a casting call a couple months back and i thought I’d try my luck to see if i could be considered. The creator emailed me requesting for a taped-audition and of course I was estatic! Fast forward to our meeting and they offered me the role!! WOW, 2 days in!!
Then after the contracts were signed, we had our first table read and I managed to meet the rest of my cast members. Something felt incredibly right and I could see that they picked a great team. They’re talented and dedicated and I’m hoping we all can grow together as we become part of something that’s extremely exciting!
I obviously can’t share much until they officially announce the new cast. I’m too excited, but waiting for the greenlight before I say anything more. So make sure you keep checking for my updates!
The next day, I scheduled a shoot for new headshots (as every actor must have) with photographer Ian Brown. The last time I actually took headshots for the purpose of headshots was in Vancouver in 1997 with Jonathan Cruz (I used to brag that he shot Devon Sawa, lol). So anyways, I wanted the shoot to go well so I was ensured that my fav make-up artist in Toronto, Ivy Lam would work her magic for my session. Then, I got my friend Karen Lo (thinkContra) to help me style my shoot. She got such amazing stuff and I think it was a little unprecedented to hire a stylist for headshots. I’m so damn kiasu man!
It was definitely a busy week and there’s even more I haven’t even touched on. But I’m definitely happy that i’ve got the ball rolling in Canada. My agent has been such a darling and he’s so happy I’m back. I’m taking his enthusiasm as a great sign. It’s really good to be here. I feel it in my bones. 🙂
