I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. -Jimmy Dean
This year has been a very interesting one for me. While waiting for a few projects to see the light of day, I’ve been using this year as a sabbatical for myself to learn and breathe new kinds of thinking into lil ol’ me. I’ve taken a few writing courses to grow creatively and I’ve found it somewhat therapeutic to say the least.
Everytime I get bogged down about stuff that happens in my life, I still hear B’s voice telling me, “Lala, don’t forget to enjoy the journey.” I’m usually a planner and a bit of a control freak. I plan, plan, and plan. Â But in the last couple of months, I haven’t done squat. I just do my day-to-day and let whatever happen, happen. As they say, (whoever they is) its about being present and in the moment.
In one of my classes, it includes a performance and one which will require me to muster up some courage to deliver my set. I’m actually very nervous and shitting my pants at the thought of it. But that’s ok. If I’m gonna do something, its better sooner than later.
You can’t plan for the big waves, tsunamis or other unforseen circumstances. But you can change your sails and move them in a direction that will help you steer clear of trouble. 🙂
