Here are the bits and pieces of my walking trip to London.
It was quite difficult trying to find it walking from Trafalgar Square… I remember asking a million people where it was and I almost gave up until I found this little square. Covent Garden is known for their markets, secret pubs and the slew of entertainers.. There was a dude walking on a tight rope on the right side. Even on a Wednesday afternoon there were this many people!! My favourite is the “Punch & Judy” building.
I couldn’t believe I managed to get such a great shot of this on an amazing day. There were Liverpool fans cheering just before the game between Chelsea and Liverpool. London fans are crazy. Perhaps the equivalent of Leaf fans in Toronto.
Picadilly Circus was a little underwhelming, from what I had read up about this place, it just reminded me of Yonge and Dundas. Nothing spectacular, just busy and central. Meh.
Carnaby was another found hidden territory. Like a mini-Queen street, there were lots of boutique shops and flagship stores as well… nothing really my fancy. I thought some of the clothes were nice, but unnecessarily more expensive after conversion.
OMG. I loved Harrods. I loved the interior. It was magnificent and opulent at the same time. The painted walls, vaulted ceilings, beautifully merchandised food, sweets, meals, etc… I just loved being in it.
The Surrealism Exhibit at the V&A Museum was fab. I saw so much of Elsa Schiaparelli’s stuff. I had no idea she was considered a surrealist designer. I also saw tons of Miro and Magritte. Luckily i managed to steal a snapshot of the entrance in this exhibit.
very nice pics sarah, sounds like an amazing trip... I too adore Harrod's, I got some great confections there that I didnt' know existed! Welcome back to NA!!
